Motivated by the lived reality of climate change and passion for the ocean, Amy moved to San Diego in 2016 to pursue a Master’s in Climate Science and Policy at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. While there, she volunteered for Ocean Connectors and decided to call the region home. Amy currently serves as an advisory board member for Ocean Connectors and on the board of the San Diego Leadership Alliance, reflecting an ongoing commitment to investing in San Diego’s next generation of stewards and leaders.
Amy has engaged in environmental education in many forms: as a classroom teacher, Ocean Connectors volunteer, outreach specialist, graduate instructor, and aquarium intern. One of her favorite experiences was designing and teaching a field-based marine ecology course for fifth graders during a summer camp in LA.
Amy joined the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego in 2026 to advance student practice and experiential learning at the Kroc School because she believes in the power of community-based work, social connection and mentorship to create a more just and sustainable world. Amy began her career as a 2013 Teach for America corps member in Miami and has continued to pursue excellence in teaching and learning ever since.
