Knowledge Exchange Returns to Nayarit

In just one week, the Ocean Connectors team will return to Nayarit, Mexico to conduct the 2015 Knowledge Exchange with students in public elementary (primaria) schools throughout the southern half of the state. Schoolchildren in National City, California used stamp-art, Spanish letters, and videos to express their concern for the protection of marine life. These materials will be distributed to children in Nayarit, who will make personalized replies. This “knowledge exchange” is a creative interdisciplinary technique that embraces the Latino heritage of the audience and instills lifelong environmental awareness.

Knowledge ExchangeThe knowledge exchange encompasses a peer-to-peer dialogue that creates lasting memories, because children are most influenced by the opinions and actions of other children. The activity also creates a visual illustration of the interconnections of ocean ecosystems and habitats.

Ocean Connectors will continue to partner with the San Pancho Bird Observatory and EntreAmigos to accomplish our goals in Nayarit. Like us on Facebook to follow along with the journey!
