Journey Through the Wetlands – Kayak Cleanup Group 1

September 21 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Free

With funding from the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and NOAA Marine Debris Program through the Ocean Odyssey competition, the San Diego Audubon Society will be coordinating a “Journey through the Wetlands” event on September 21, 2024, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in South Bay at the Chula Vista Bayfront Park.

This event is part of celebrations for the Latino Conservation Week. This community clean-up project will engage over 100 residents of San Diego’s underserved South Bay communities to remove 450 pounds of marine debris from the waterway in San Diego Bay. Supporting partners include San Diego National Wildlife Refuge, Ocean Connectors, Living Coast Discovery Center, San Diego Natural History Museum, Fauna del Noroeste, San Diego Coastkeeper, and Outdoor Outreach.

Join us for a celebration of the Latino community and their contributions to conservation. The event will include kayaking, live animals, mariachi, art, food, and many other family-friendly activities.
