Intern with Ocean Connectors!
Our interns can assist with classroom instruction, field trips, and administrative duties related to the Ocean Connectors education programs in San Diego County, California. Responsibilities include assisting with material preparations, conducting virtual or in-class presentations and field trips, helping with public education at outreach events, and interacting with students in-person and using technology.

Living Coast Discovery Center
Location: Chula Vista, California, U.S.
Volunteer and internship opportunities include caring for and feeding animals, cleaning and maintaining exhibits, animal observations, group presentations, grounds maintenance, education projects, and much more. Continue the learning process you began with Ocean Connectors in the fourth grade by getting involved with Living Coast Discovery Center’s team of animal care and education experts.
Outdoor Outreach
Location: San Diego, California, U.S.
Outdoor Outreach is a San Diego-based nonprofit facilitating outdoor adventure programs for youth whose communities have been historically impacted by social inequities. They work to connect youth to transformational outdoor experiences such as kayaking, surfing, and rock climbing; provide job training in outdoor careers, and advocate for increased outdoor access. Outdoor Outreach also offers open enrollment programs and summer and fall Leadership Program sessions, for young people ages 11-24.
The Science Exchange
Location: Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and other Latin American sites
The Science Exchange trains the next generation to become scientifically literate, international team players through two-month STEM research internships. Affordable, customized, field-based sea turtle research internships are available for undergraduate and graduate students around the world. Interns are provided with lodging, ground transportation, and research equipment, and can even receive university credit.
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Location: Throughout the U.S.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service helps students gain work experience, earn money, and establish a career in conservation and natural resource management. Employment opportunities exist for students in high school through graduate school, ranging from summer work to year-round internships that can lead to permanent positions.
World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council
Location: Global
The World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council looks for young ocean leaders from around the world. Applicants should be between the ages of 16-22, be able to make at least a one-year commitment – including approximately 5-10 hours per month to Council activities – and have a passion for ocean conservation. Learn more and keep an eye out for the call for applications, which comes at the end of June each year.
